BB&J provides environmental consulting services to a more than 200 real estate clients, including private investors, real estate investment trusts, commercial developers, national residential developers, industrial developers, brownfield partnerships, commercial lenders, and real estate divisions of larger corporations. The firm evaluates and manages real-estate related risks for client buyers, sellers, investors, lessees, lessors, and developers. In addition, BB&J’s professionals have provided expert witness testimony supporting clients engaged in dispute resolution. BB&J maintains master services agreements with many of these firms to provide environmental strategy on an on-going, long -term basis.

BB&J’s experience covers a broad array of property types, including raw land, agricultural land, residential housing, warehouses, commercial malls and centers, “big box” retail, industrial parks, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, industrial facilities, and retail operations. BB&J has advised real estate clients during property transactions in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, South America, East Asia, and Europe. BB&J has also provided environmental services to the real property divisions of global firms operating in Canada, Europe, China, and South Korea. The firm has provided services for individual properties as well as large portfolios of properties.

Services provided to real estate sector clients span all five of BB&J’s practices. The firm’s Real Property practice has provided many real estate clients with Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments, pollution investigations, asbestos and lead abatement, impairment valuation, brownfield redevelopment design, and transaction support.  In addition, the firm has provided permitting, compliance reviews, compliance audits and other regulatory compliance services to clients seeking to clarify or resolve regulatory obligations. Pollution management services provided to the real estate sector have included remedial investigations and cleanup, decommissioning, and waste management.

In addition, the firm’s Natural Resource practice has provided species and habitat evaluations, stream restoration, wetlands permitting/ delineation, and risk assessment to clients in this sector.
