Compliance Plans
Adapting Regulations to Practices

Environmental, health, and safety regulatory compliance is an essential part of effectively operating a business. Non-compliance can be costly and result in legal and financial liability, negative media exposure, and fines imposed by regulatory agencies. Once non-compliant issues have been identified, it is imperative to correct them quickly at low cost. In addition, underlying causes should be addressed by improving practices or policies. These practices and policies can be memorialized in the form of compliance plans, which are required by many regulations.

BB&J has worked with more than 500 commercial and industrial clients. As a result, BB&J’s experienced and knowledgeable staff is able to prepare compliance plans for a broad variety of sectors, including manufacturing, chemical production, transportation, and waste management.

Evaluating Processes
Achieving compliance often requires the preparation of complex compliance plans. BB&J’s professional staff helps its clients comply with water, waste, and Occupational Safety & Health Administration regulations by preparing site-specific compliance plans. BB&J’s services include the preparation of Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure plans; Facility Response Plans; Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans; hazardous waste generator contingency plans; Emergency Action Plans; and hazard communication programs. BB&J’s regulatory experience includes the use of best management practices (BMPs) to achieve compliance. In these assignments, BB&J evaluates the long-term technical and/or economic feasibility of implementing BMPs, and prepares compliance plans that explain how BMPs will be implemented.

Staff Training
Proper plan implementation often requires staff training. BB&J has experience with providing in-person training, implementing “train the trainer” and developing on-line training programs that address regulatory requirements while reflecting the client’s corporate culture. Staff training records are maintained to document compliance with training requirements.
