AUDITS, PLANS & TRAINING

Creating Responsible Management and Operating Practices

BBJ Group EHS compliance services are designed to reduce clients’ exposure to liability, including regulatory violations and fines. The EHS auditing, planning, and training process demonstrates a commitment to responsible corporate management, thereby enhancing relationships with communities, investors, and regulatory agencies. EHS compliance auditing and planning identify where clients can improve their balance sheets by reducing known and potential liability. Another way to view EHS compliance auditing and training is as contamination and injury prevention.

EHS COMPLIANCE AUDITS

A BBJ Group environmental compliance audit provides clients with a detailed account of potential non-compliance issues associated with applicable air, water, and waste regulations. Audit results document EHS compliance status to regulators, investors, prospective purchasers, and other interested parties. This reduces risk and liability, thereby creating value. BBJ Group is well-versed in designing and conducting internal audits in preparation for external ISO certification or regulatory audits, such as ISO 14000.

A typical BBJ Group EHS compliance assessment is performed by an environmental compliance specialist and includes:

  • On-site inspection of a facility’s policies, practices, and operations;
  • Review of pertinent internal guidance and records such as available environmental permits, reports, and operational data such as waste manifests and maintenance records.

Based on these observations and reviews, BBJ Group determines the facility’s regulatory compliance status and recommends actions that will meet regulatory obligations in a way that is consistent with the client’s corporate culture.

EHS COMPLIANCE PLANS

Achieving compliance often requires the preparation of complex compliance plans. BBJ Group’s environmental compliance consultants help clients comply with water, waste, and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations by preparing site-specific compliance plans.

BBJ Group’s services include the preparation of

  • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure plans (SPCC);
  • Facility Response Plans;
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP);
  • Hazardous waste generator contingency plans;
  • Emergency Action Plans;
  • Hazard communication programs.

BBJ Group understands that EHS compliance plans should embody the actual implementation of environmental regulations and requirements. Plans include requirements for inspection, maintenance, response, and reporting obligations, all of which are generally the responsibility facility-level staff.

BBJ Group’s regulatory experience includes the use of best management practices (BMPs) to achieve compliance. In these assignments, BBJ Group evaluates the long-term technical and/or economic feasibility of implementing BMPs, and prepares EHS compliance plans that explain how BMP programs will be implemented.

EHS COMPLIANCE TRAINING

BBJ Group’s employee training programs encourage employees to incorporate environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) compliance into every-day practices and operations. Safety is emphasized, as is the avoidance of violations and enforcement costs. BBJ Group employee EHS training programs highlight the profitability and sustainability of EHS compliance.

BBJ Group professionals are qualified to train client employees and managers in all major federal environmental regulations, including:

  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
  • Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA)
  • Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA)
  • Clean Water Act (CWA)
  • Clean Air Act (CAA)
  • OSHA

BBJ Group has provided in-person training, particularly “train the trainer” programs to Clients in the manufacturing, chemical production, transportation, and waste management sectors. Often, BBJ Group EHS training is provided on-line for cost efficiency. BBJ Group’s training modules are designed to identify EHS regulatory requirements and introduce EHS compliance tactics that reflect the client’s corporate culture.
