BBJ Group spearheads advanced hydrologic research and resource management for a major U.S. water supply project, addressing complex challenges of water depletion and air pollution through innovative science and regulatory collaboration.
Project Overview
BBJ Group leads ongoing hydrologic research on one of the largest water supply and watershed management projects in the U.S. As the primary consultant for the regulatory enforcement agency responsible for resource sustainability and protection of human health, the team navigates a complex landscape shaped by a century of legal battles over water rights and air quality, compounded by recent drought and climate change impacts.
The project integrates cutting-edge science with a comprehensive understanding of economic and socio-political implications. A key objective of BBJ Group's work is establishing relationships between hydrologic resource depletion, including lake desiccation, and the presence of the largest single source of air and dust pollution in the United States within the project area.
The team's role encompasses evaluating resource development plans and supporting scientific studies, conducting hydrologic modeling, deploying state-of-the-art instrumentation and telemetry, performing GIS mapping and analysis, assessing climatic impacts, and establishing resource protection metrics. Throughout this multifaceted project, BBJ Group collaborates with regulators, scientists, and public agencies to ensure comprehensive and effective resource management in the face of historical conflicts and emerging environmental challenges.
