BBJ Group is leading the comprehensive environmental investigation and cleanup of a former bulk storage facility in the Chicago region, tackling soil and groundwater contamination by utilizing advanced remediation techniques.

Project Overview

BBJ Group has been conducting ongoing environmental investigations and remediation activities for a former bulk storage facility in the Chicago area since 2017. The work addresses soil and groundwater contamination from historical operations and facility decommissioning. BBJ Group performed comprehensive site investigations, including extensive soil sampling and installation of a monitoring well network. Recent phases of work have included excavation and in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) treatment to address soil impacts. BBJ Group has prepared various reports in accordance with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requirements. BBJ Group also managed the demolition of 36 above-ground storage tanks, asbestos abatement, and proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Throughout the project, BBJ Group has coordinated with regulators, property operators, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and progress towards site closure.
