About Doug Bablitch
Douglas Bablitch, PE, is an accomplished civil and environmental remediation engineer with over 25 years of experience delivering complex projects across 18 states and internationally. His career spans leadership roles in both private and public sectors, focusing on innovative solutions for groundwater and soil remediation. Notably, he led the design and implementation of the first full-scale permeable reactive barrier (PRB) for radioactive strontium treatment in groundwater. His expertise includes advanced remediation techniques, such as thermally enhanced recovery systems and permeable pavement capping systems, reflecting his commitment to engineering excellence and environmental stewardship.
As Principal Engineer at WSP E&IS in San Francisco, Bablitch successfully grew the engineering team, mentoring a diverse group of professionals while managing key accounts for Fortune 500 clients. He served as engineer of record for large-scale remediation projects, including a former rocket test facility with annual operating budgets exceeding $4.2 million. His leadership extended to strategic account management and cutting-edge remedial designs involving vapor intrusion mitigation, groundwater extraction, and soil vapor systems. His work demonstrates a dedication to sustainable engineering solutions and innovative project delivery.
Beyond his work in environmental remediation, Bablitch contributed to international humanitarian efforts, including designing critical water resource systems in Sri Lanka following the 2004 tsunami. He developed a water treatment facility serving over 1,000 families and managed the construction of homes for 400 displaced families.
